Shiba Saviors™ was created from a simple belief: most Shibas do not need to be rescued. They need to be understood.
but for those in need of rescue, we are here
Founder & Executive Director, Shiba Saviors™
I have loved animals for as long as I can remember. All animals, truly, but Shiba Inus hold a special place in my heart.
Shibas are not easy dogs, and that is exactly what I love about them.
I admire their independence and their sharp, sometimes ridiculous wit. They keep you on your toes. They force you to slow down, pay attention, and earn trust instead of demanding it. That challenge matters to me. I need it.
Shibas do not give affection freely or automatically. When a Shiba chooses you, when they lean in, follow you, trust you, it means something. You did not command it. You earned it. And that kind of bond is powerful.
Over the years, I have seen too many Shibas surrendered simply because they were expected to behave like a different breed. Too stubborn. Too aloof. Too independent. In reality, they were just being exactly who they were bred to be.
Shiba Saviors™ exists to change that story.
Or you struggle with one, or you are trying to decide whether this breed is right for you, you are in the right place. We are glad you found us.
Operations & Support
Michael is part of Shiba Saviors™ in the ways that matter most day to day.
He lives this work alongside me. That means the dogs are not theoretical. They are our dogs. The routines, the chaos, the learning curve, the realities of living with a primitive breed are part of everyday life in our home.
Michael brings steadiness, practicality, and consistency to the rescue. He helps with logistics, transport, daily care, and the behind the scenes work that keeps things functioning smoothly.
He is deeply involved in the dogs’ routines and wellbeing, and he understands that supporting a rescue is not about grand gestures. It is about showing up, reliably, even when it is inconvenient.
Rescue work does not only happen in public moments. It happens in early mornings, late nights, hard decisions, and quiet follow through.
Michael is part of that foundation.
Shiba Saviors™ is stronger because this work is shared.
